Tidbit (replenishing electrolytes edition): Alright, so Gatorade – as you’d expect – was created by a team of scientists (you’ve seen the commercial, they’re wearing lab coats) on the U.F. campus in 1965.

Naked Underneath?

Revolutionary ideas coming from phdcomics.com. The rarely discussed topic of under-labcoat-attire clearly has some potentially explosive consequences. Obviously, even the greatest scientists have to the leave the lab occasionally to accept awards, give commencement speeches, or go to prison. On those rare occasions it would be nice to be outfitted in a nice shirt and tie, or at least a corduroy jacket with some elbow patches.
Bulletin Board Material

An important part of raising the profile of the uncasually dressed scientist in a department is making sure their bulletin board pictures are appropriately un-casual. To this end, I demanded a new picture for our bulletin board (I also needed to move from Grad Student to Faculty). Here is the result.
